Our Union

A rendition of “Union Maid” by Woody Guthrie (original tune from 1907 standard “Red Wing” by Kerry Mills)

There once was a CBA, and the manager was afraid
Of the right wing trolls, and the wage theft Gauls
For all union he did hesitate
But the people organized, the coalition it was wise
We pressured in, we pushed from out
and every chance we’d shout:

Chorus: Oh, you can’t scare me, I’m stickin’ to the union
I’m stickin’ to the union, I’m stickin’ to the union
Oh, you can’t scare me, I’m stickin’ to the union, ’till the day I die

The Ydubbs was first to sign, its mission was aligned
For equity, fight disparity and women lead this fight
Will the ball team follow suit? Or try to just dilute?
Well, we’ll stay strong, sing the union song,
when they try to divide

Chorus

Good wages are in store, wage theft we’ll take no more
Buy our supplies and our co-ops rise,
and we’ll keep justice in the fore
Sure, we’ll negotiate, but don’t you tempt your fate!
We’ll make a stink if it ain’t signed in ink
You’ve heard what we stand for

Chorus
